I’m not sure about you, but I often tire of celebrity magazines glorifying celebrities weight loss, and equally weight gain? God forbid if they are like the rest of us, and occasionally have a blow out, or get bloated!
But what grates me even more is the silly diet plans they feature.
If you only eat carrot and celery sticks for 2 weeks you’ll lose 5kg! Great, what it doesn’t disclose if that your going to be a horrible person to be around, starving, grumpy, and want to demolish a Woolworths aisle… Doesn’t sound so exciting now does it?
So today I wanted to share with you 5 things I think you need to know before you lose weight. ..
1 – It won’t make you feel more worthy.
The amount of times I have heard people say “I’ll do that when I lose 5kg etc”. Or I’ll be happy when I reach my goal weight is unbelievable. You are worthy or what you want now, and you’ll just be as worthy as want you want when you do reach your ideal weight. Don’t wait for things until you get there.
2 – You won’t instantly transform into an amazingly happy human (unless you are already in which case – high five!)
Great you’ve reached your goal, and no doubt worked incredibly hard to get there. But guess what? Instant happiness is not yours now for the taking. Don’t wait to be happy until you reach your goal. Be happy because life is awesome and your awesome!
3- It's going to be a journey. Embrace it.
There’s going to be ups and downs, and that’s ok. Keep your eye on your goal, and be flexible! Focus on nourishing yourself because you want to nourish your body out of love, not because your trying to change it to something its not.
If you do slip up, be okay with that your human. Just make your next meal, extra nourishing.
4 – Don’t weigh yourself.
There’s so much more to you then the weight your body takes. A lot of my clients find they don’t lose much weight but there clothes are hanging off them, and they are feeling amazing! Why?
Because they gained lean muscle, and lose fat. Which is exactly what we want. When you rely on your weight you don’t take into consideration water content, muscles mass and fat. At Beachfit we take measurements, and don’t believe in scales! If you want to get a bit more scientific, you can get a dexa scan, which takes all of this into account.
5 – Change your goal.
Instead of focusing on achieving a goal weight, why not change your goal, to moving your body X amount of times a week, nourishing your body from the inside out, and loving yourself. Even complete some fitness testing, and repeat in 4 weeks and set some goals to achieve. You can check my guide out to fitness testing here.
You will feel so much better I promise you. Now go throw out your scales!
