Meet Our Favourite Dietician Laura

I met Laura about 5 years ago when we were working in a gym together.

Casual hours meant lots of beach trips, training sessions, and Ice Cream dates  (yes Personal Trainers and Dieticians occasionally eat ice cream)- Laura introduced me to Messina's - something I still blame her for, my obsession!

Laura hosts our nutrition workshops for our8-weekk Beachfit and Wellbeing Program, and is my go-to for anything nutrition related. I'm so excited to see what 2017 brings her!

What does your morning routine look like?

Oil pulling on waking, then big cup of warm water with lemon or ACV. Then out the door for a workout or yoga and walk to work. I then eat breakfast around 9am when I get to work. I have coffee 3-4 days per week, otherwise it's green/dandelion tea. One thing I'm working on this year is meditating for at least 10 minutes every morning too!

What’s your number 1 go-to meal?

Greens and roast veg with protein and goats cheese, sprinkled with seeds.

What 1 habit do you insist on doing every day?

Drinking 2-3L water

What’s Your secret indulgence?

A big glass of red wine on a Friday night!!

 3 nutrition rules you live by? (Make note of these guys, super simple rules YOU can add to your life for a healthier mind and body)

1. Vegetables with every meal

2. Eat 3 proper meals every day, don't deprive yourself!

3. Eat foods in their natural state or cooked from scratch

...and one more - don't stress about it!

What inspired you to become a dietician?

Initially I wanted to be a sports dietitian with elite athletes but during my studies I decided I wanted to help the general population improve their health and quality of life

 What does your weekly fitness routine look like?

1. I walk to work most days which is 3km each way, and usually go for a stroll after dinner

2. I do Vinyasa or Hatha yoga 2-3 days per week

3. I do 3-4 HIIT workouts per week (hill sprints, skipping, body weight/kettle bell circuit for 30 mins)

4. One day on the weekend we go for a long walk (roughly 10km) and explore our beautiful city!

What do you do for self care?

Slowing down and listening to my body has been the big focus for me over the last 2 years. Due to a health flare up I was forced to go from smashing myself at CrossFit 6 days per week to taking up (and now loving!) yoga, walking (instead of lots of running) and shorter HIIT sessions.
